    Nest

While Head of Design at Holiday, I led the design direction for Nest - a digital platform built to help people with disability find suitable accommodation following the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Developed in collaboration with Northcott Innovation, Nest was conceived as Australia’s first accessible real estate portal of its kind.

    Branding

Working in close collaboration with the client, a brand identity and logo was created that felt approachable, inclusive, and above all, accessible. The visual system was designed to meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards for colour contrast, ensuring clarity for users with low vision while maintaining a cohesive and contemporary aesthetic.

A bespoke illustration style was developed to extend across digital and print applications, bringing warmth and humanity to the brand. The result is a visual language that feels friendly, optimistic, and distinctly Nest.

A unique illustration style was developed for use across marketing and brand touchpoints, giving the Nest brand a warm, human and inviting personality.

    Website

Following the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), people with disability gained greater choice over where they lived - yet continued to face two major barriers: a limited supply of suitable housing and the absence of a central, easy-to-navigate platform connecting them with accommodation providers.

Nest was created to bridge that gap - a custom-built, fully responsive, AA-compliant portal designed specifically for people with disability and providers of Specialist Disability Accommodation. Built on the Laravel framework and powered by cloud-based technologies, the platform delivers a seamless experience across all devices.

Through an intelligent matching system, Nest enables users to discover accommodation tailored to their individual needs and preferences. In the long term, the platform’s anonymised data insights will help strengthen the case for continued investment in specialist housing, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable accommodation ecosystem.

The Nest algorithm matches People With Disability to properties based on their preferences and needs.
